Website Design & Development

The Northeastern Alberta Aboriginal Business Association (NAABA) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to help Aboriginal businesses work with industry and enhance opportunities by promoting business development in the Wood Buffalo region. NAABA set out to redesign their website in parallel with their growing interest group of Aboriginal businesses. Its priorities lie in creating an environment that is informative, clean, and intuitive for both existing and new members to explore available business opportunities.

The new design carries the spirit and history of their Aboriginal roots with the use of images and implicit graphic illustrations, all the while maintaining a modern view. The colour scheme of their brand is utilized throughout to establish an orderly hierarchy. Its use also brings out a friendly and welcoming look that speaks loudly of NAABA’s expanding community and strong relationships of Aboriginal Businesses. Relevant pages incorporate elements of a brutalist design to showcase their vision of unity in bringing together Aboriginal members of diverse disciplines with industry. Membership information is arranged in a readable structure to guide businesses with all the facts they need before applying.

The display of events is recognized as a vital part of the new website. Interactive calendar with filtering options is built, and upcoming events are well promoted on the homepage with an active feed. Past events are chronologically presented in a slideshow with photos taken, capturing the atmosphere and energy from the events.
